This piece is my Okami submission. I certainly do LOVE this game-- my new favorite! I enjoyed it on the PS2 and I am really looking forward to playing it on my Wii.
yes I did-- I used sponge on the background with a clear leaf stamp over it. Next I drew and colored the characters-- I put the two together in photoshop. I then took the Okami logo and used a heart pattern I found in photoshop to change the logo from a circle to a heart. Glad you liked it!
I love the loose feel of the lineart! I think it does a great job of conveying that Asian ink-painting look and feel. I especially like how the woman came out. : )
The colors look good, though I think they could've stood to be a little smoother. The visible strokes of the marker look a bit rougher than I'd like to have seen. The hair is the part where this stands out the most, though a little on her sleeves, too. Seeing the different directions the marker strokes are going in takes a bit of the polish of the pic away.
But overall I really like it! I like how you captured the right look and atmosphere, and the way you drew the characters is a lot of fun.
